Retaining Wall Installation
Engineered-quality retaining walls that hold slopes, stop erosion and turn unusable hillside into usable yard.
The details, in plain English.
Middle Tennessee is hilly, and hills move. A retaining wall holds soil in place, creates flat terraces and keeps water from washing out your yard or undermining a foundation. A wall is only as good as its footing, drainage and backfill.
We build segmental block, natural stone and boulder walls with a buried base course, compacted gravel backfill, drainage pipe and geogrid reinforcement where height or load calls for it. Taller walls should be reviewed by an engineer, and we coordinate that.

Questions, answered
How tall can a retaining wall be without engineering?
Rules vary by city, but walls over roughly four feet, or walls supporting a driveway, structure or slope above, typically need an engineer. We tell you early and coordinate.
Why do retaining walls fail?
Almost always from water pressure and a poor base. Drainage and a compacted, buried foundation are the keys, and we never skip them.
