Seat Walls & Garden Walls

Low walls that define patios, add extra seating and shape garden beds, with caps that feel good to sit on.

What it is

The details, in plain English.

Seat walls are one of the best features in a hardscape plan. They define the patio edge, add permanent seating for a crowd, hide the transition to the lawn and, with a little lighting, glow at night.

We build seat walls and garden walls from block, stone or veneered concrete with comfortable cap heights, and integrate lights, pillars and planters. They tie the hardscape to the garden.

Best for

  • Patio perimeters and fire pit rings
  • Extra seating for gatherings
  • Raised planters and garden beds
  • Defining spaces without a fence

Good questions

Questions, answered

How high should a seat wall be?

Around 18 inches is comfortable for most people, with a cap at least 12 inches deep. We adjust for your family.

Can a seat wall double as a retaining wall?

Often yes, if designed with the right footing and drainage. We check height and load first.
